Why Instagram doesn't have a native Reels download button
Instagram intentionally removed the download button for other users' content. The logic: if you can download Reels, you might not return to the platform to rewatch and generate more ad revenue. For your own Reels, Instagram does offer an export option from Settings. For other creators' content, you need an external tool like instago.
Step-by-step: download any Instagram Reel in HD
Copy the Reel link
Open the Reel on Instagram. Tap the three dots (···) in the corner and select "Copy link". The URL goes to your clipboard.
Open instago in your browser
Open Chrome or Safari and go to instago.site/en/download-instagram-reels.html. Tap "Paste" — the link is inserted automatically.
Click DOWNLOAD
Press the button. The MP4 file is saved to your Downloads folder in HD — no new tab opening, no redirect.
Reel download quality: what resolution to expect
instago delivers the highest resolution available on Instagram's servers — typically 720p or 1080p HD. The final quality depends on what the original creator uploaded. If the Reel was recorded in 4K but Instagram compressed it to 1080p on upload, that's the maximum quality available.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The process is identical on both platforms — open the browser, paste the link, download. On iPhone, the MP4 is saved to the Files app. On Android, it goes to the Downloads folder. No app installation needed on either platform.
Is it safe to download Instagram Reels?
Using instago is completely safe — we never ask for your Instagram password, we don't store your links, and all traffic is HTTPS encrypted. Downloading for personal use is generally accepted. Redistributing or using others' content commercially without permission may violate copyright.
